Lectio divina Retreat Day
Saturday, 3 November 2018 (10.00 am – 3.30 pm)
with Sister Anne Walsh OP
Lectio Divina is a meditative, prayerful way of reading Scripture which goes back to the early centuries of the Church. It continues to be a source of deep spiritual growth for many people today. Lectio Divina brings about a personal encounter with God, a communion which resembles (yet is distinct from) the communion of the Holy Eucharist.
We see our lives reflected in the text of the Scriptures. We see our own sin and that of the world in the light of the transforming power of God’s Word. Above all, we see God’s love and grace.
Some input on this way of praying will be given, but the main part of the day will be using lectio divina and reflecting on that experience.
Sister Anne learned about Lectio Divina from Fr Michael de Verteuil, a Spiritan (Holy Ghost) Father from Trinidad and uses it for her personal prayer.
